GREEN
ORBIT - WHAT IS IT?
(WHAT ISN'T IT?)
Today, via the internet, specifically GOOGLE
I discovered:
1. Green Orbit is a environmental
group out of Romania which warns of the use and consuption
of "genetically modified organisms" or GMO's.
The chairman of the council "Green Orbit",
'Coordinator of International Company For Biosafety of the International
Social-Ecological Union for Volgograd and the Volgograd region"
is Sergei Shavlak.
In 2003, his apartment was ransacked, but then he
is going up against big companies like Monsanto.
That sucks, Sergei, but I think you are paranoid, Monsanto knows
you'll never be a threat and you had a nice computer in there.
Anyway, all this was reported via GENET,
an organization out of Switzerland that supports activities that
aim to avoid the introduction of products of gene technology that
are not in the interest of consumers or farmers, harm the environment
or animals, and conflict with human rights and ethics. There's a
conference in Berlin this Jan, 2006.
I shold point out that nearly every living thing
is a "genetically modified organism" and that these folks
really ought to start using the term "artificially" to
qualify their arguments. Even the term "gene technology"
is not strong enough - that's pretty much dog breeding, crop selection
or any other directed selection. |

2. Green
Orbit is a cell-phone "wall paper" from their Naked Motel
Series available for sale at jivjiv.com.
There sure is a bunch of pointless crap in the world. Get your pointless
crap NOW! |

3. Green
Orbit is toy company, who's
GREEN ORBIT EXTENDING SUPER SPYPERISCOPE was voted one of ten worst
Toys in 2003
by W.A.T.C.H. (World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc.),
because it could fucking burn your child's retina, if used to look
straight up and pointed at the sun, but your kid would have to be
pretty dumb.
Green Orbit also makes a "Junior
Scientist Microscope Set", which is apparently safe,
unless, of course, you try to eat it (see dumb kid reference above).
Further research reveals that Green Orbit may have "gone under"
because either they made really bad toys or that only dumb kids
received them. |

4. Orbit
is a chewing gum. There's peppermint flavor, the packaging of which
is Green. There is no "Green Orbit" gum, but dammit, there
it is.
"""Orbit
is available in 5 great flavors including Original Peppermint, Spearmint,
Wintermint, and two fabulous new flavors: Bubblemint and Cinnamint.
These unique new flavor varieties blend the refreshing taste of
mint with great tasting bubble gum and cinnamon flavors to provide
a clean mouth feeling that will help you look and feel your best.
Orbit's advertising features "Vanessa",
a perky spokesperson. Vanessa always finds herself at "the
scene of the grime" in her never-ending quest to prove that
Orbit leaves your mouth feeling clean…no matter what, even
if you just threw up.
Since
its launch in September 2001, Orbit has quickly become a success
and is now one of the top five chewing gum brands in the United
States. Orbit gum is also enjoyed by millions of people throughout
Europe and the Middle East.
But fewer every day now in the Middle East. |

A Good Clean Feeling, No Matter What"

5. Greenorbit.com
was purchased by Mercedes Cuesta Castillo in '03, but she's not
really doing anything with it - I am tempted to give her a call...I
wonder what she is up to? She probably bought greenorbit.com
one night in Amsterdam blasted on something, er, green. It expires
in '07, so maybe i'll try to buy it then.

6. Green
Orbit, is an old favourite and a popular harling fly particularly
as the light begins to fade.
That's
right, in New Zealand, this little bugger will do the trick
if you're fly fishing, which you will be...YOU WILL BE!
REMEMBER: The most important part of any fly is
the hook!! Hence flies are tied using premium quality hooks made
from high carbon steel. The low-profile barbs penetrate and hold
fish and apparently, this tree branch, with ease. |

As of October 19, 2005 - the
day THIS very page was created - what I did not find out is that
Green Orbit is a sonic duo out of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Kay Levels and someone not named Ponch, but Carlos Santistevan,
use a combination of vintage and state of the art electronics to
improvise very wide-band soundscapes and rhythms from sources -
flute, basses, live samples, current event singing, piloted feedback,
reflexive spoken word and the "Rhythm55", after they "hykydy".
They often collaborate with visualists in improvised feedback systems.
I didn't find that out via the internet, because, well, GOOGLE
didn't pull us up. That's because GOOGLE derives search results
by using their PigeonRank™
system, NO, wait,
that's joke posted by GOOGLE a few years ago.
What really happens is that Google crawls the web, stores a local
cache of the pages it finds, and builds a lexicon of common words.
For each word, it creates a list of pages that contain that word.
A query for a given word returns that list, sorted by pagerank.
Pagerank is computed based on the pageranks of the pages linking
to a document.
Google
uses their proprietary (and secret) PageRank Algorithm to calculate
your web page's PR based upon the quantity and quality of the links
pointing to your page from other web pages, including your own pages
as well as those belonging to other webmasters.
Because Green Orbit (the sonic ensemble) has assembled this page
in such a way as to link to other "Green Orbit" references
we have helped to increase the page rank of those other Green Orbits.
To increase our page ranking we plan to
ask others to link to this very page, and hence manipulate the internet
(with this game-theory) and thus Google's engine.
So please cut and paste http://www.highmayhem.org/artists/greenorbit
as a hyperlink on your page, if for no other reason to wield POWER!!
Give this a few days, I'll bet that
by November 18, when Green Orbit comes to UNM,
Southwest Film Center in the Student
Union Building, we'll top off a Google Search for Green Orbit.
Hey, it worked for Bildebier. |
