We Drew Lightning - Swimming With Orange
We Drew Lightning utilizes different timbres and styles such as psychedelic rock, experimental, and electronic, creating complex textured soundscapes performed in conjunction with live visuals to bring the audience member on a journey. Every instrument and line of music, including the voices, melds together; no individual pushing to the forefront.

We Drew Lightning is
Roland Ostheim (vocals, guitar, keyboard, piano, live loops) and Michael Smith (drums, electronics, samples, vocals), both formerly of DERAIL, and Steve Canny (cello). On this release, they perform with Alex Neville (bass guitar, banjo, vocals, electronics), Gretchen Yatsevitch (voice on “insectivore”) and Max Friedenberg (voice on “zombie t.v.”). Recorded at High Mayhem Studios by Carlos Santistevan and Max Friedenberg. NO animals were harmed during the recording process.

The cover art for swimming with orange was created by Vadi Grontis, who also does the live visuals for all of We Drew Lightning’s shows. You can't see them here, but they are bad-ass and everything.

The Late Severa Wires and Synchronicity Pictures
DVD: Here With Your Eyes

This DVD documents the complete performances of The Late Severa Wires from the 2003 and 2006 High Mayhem Emerging Arts Festivals in Santa Fe, NM. The 2003 performance is 23 minutes long, and the 2006 performance is 46 minutes long.

Footage of the band at both performances is overlaid and intertwined with the moving images of Joe Picard that were created live at the performances. Much as The Late Severa Wires transform the air around them into a sonic scape in which sounds collide, interact, fuse, and co-evolve, the spectacular imagery of Picard manipulates colors and shapes in a corybantic dance. These images are continually morphing into something new, always reflective of the sounds being created. It is a frenetic connection between the music and images. Sometimes frantic, and often frenzied, the performances can reach plateaus where an uncomfortable, eerie calm is created, only to be agitated once more for an intense, emotional ride.

Grilly Biggs-New Orleans/Katrina=Santa Fe+Chicago
Grilly Biggs is a not-so-traditional drum'n'bass band formed in the summer of 2004 and is made up of Matthew Golombisky (bass/live samples), Matthew McClimon (vibraphone), Quin Kirchner (drums/live and recorded samples), and Milton Villarrubia (drums/live and recorded samples). The recent history of the band is reflected in the title of the CD.

The group formed in New Orleans, but was displaced to Santa Fe, New Mexico and Chicago, Illinois due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. This CD was recorded in October 2005 at the High Mayhem Festival in Santa Fe. This was the first performance of Grilly Biggs post-Katrina, and you can hear the pain and frustration of their loss, as well as the joy of friends reunited.

Taiji Pole-s/t CD
Taiji Pole’s music is based on continuous low-volume feedback with layers upon layers of tones, which are not guided by traditional rhythmic devises.

“A seamless journey through uncountable phases and facets, with the overall effect being one strange trip indeed. The dynamic range of the piece is astonishing with figures ferocious and lumbering counter imposed by delicacy, long shapes repeated unexpectedly and ephemeral filigrees.”

– Peter Breslin, Santa Fe Reporter

High Mayhem Festival 2005 Remix CD
This CD contains 5 remixes of audio documentation of the fourth annual High Mayhem Emerging Arts Festival, which took place in October 2005 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The challenge was not just to incorporate multiple performances, but to capture the emotional charge and artistic integrity of that weekend.

Tracks:
1) “New Surrealists” by J.A. “Dino” Deane
2) “Medicine Hat” by Ménage á Un
3) “10.666” by impacttestdummy
4) “Not Nearly as Dangerous-Cities Burning” by Walker
5) “Domino Re-mix” by CK Barlow

"Each mix is absolutely unique, reflecting the sound sculptor’s aesthetic while at the same time honoring the startling range and variety of the event itself. The CD succeeds at simultaneously documenting and re-creating the buzz of High Mayhem’s three days of peace and madness."-Peter Breslin, Santa Fe Reporter

Out of Context plays Wenomadmen by Theater Grottesco- CD-R release
Beautiful sound-design created for Theater Grottesco's summer 2006 production.

"In Theater Grottesco's new production, WENOMADMEN, we're instantly thrown into a brave new world with a fearful, subjugated class of slaves and craftsmen, lorded over by a futuristic, stylized clique of bureaucrats. Everything in this production is stylized, exaggerated, minimalist, but the echoes of our own society and its anxieties are everywhere."
-Jim Terr, KUNM News

The Late Severa Wires-three minutes a second-LP only, that's right VINYL!, release
After a 3-year release hiatus the group spent 2 weeks in February 2006 fleshing out concepts they had been developing over the last year. From these sessions nine tracks were chosen for the vinyl-only release. Mastered by the infamous John Golden and pressed on clear vinyl at RTI. The Late Severa Wires has produced an album that accurately resembles what an experience at one of their live performances is like. No overdubs – raw and unedited. This is the Wires as they were meant to be heard

“He uses static as a rhythm instrument and incorporates eerie ambiances like the whining of an air conditioner, overheard conversation or random bits of shortwave radio. He says he adapted quickly to his new technology, but Thompson is less about the medium than about the moods he tries to capture, which he says come spontaneously” – Howard Mandel, NPRs All Things Considered

OUT OF CONTEXT - ONE INCH = 25 MILES
This is a sonic interpretation of Sumner Carnahan's book 1 inch = 25 miles. J.A Deane recorded samples of her book and created a beautiful musical performance by O.O.C. Co-released with Burning Books. Urgently Weird. Read this review.

“[There is] no question of this being a simple question of instrumental accompaniment – but their imagery works into the music at a deeper level, as the eleven tracks run together to form a continuous whole (suite? opera?)…Deane’s handling of the ensemble is nothing short of masterly…the texture remains rich and luminous, rather than dense and claggy, and the work as a whole is suffused with an authentic freshness and lyricism.” Paris Transatlantic
